Lucknow: Amid the discussion and protests over the Uniform Civil Code in the country, Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Minority Welfare and Wakf Affairs Danish Ansari said that the BJP government will take steps towards implementing the Uniform Civil Code by holding discussions with all stakeholders and with public opinion.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Ansari said to a question on the issue of uniform civil code, "Things also change as the society moves forward. But for us, public opinion is the most important thing. We will move towards a Uniform Civil Code only by discussing with all quarters and consulting the public. Danish Ansari, the only Muslim minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, said, "We will go to the grassroots level and inform the people, especially the Muslim community, about the Uniform Civil Code (UCC)." We will put before the people the intention of the Government through the Qaumi Chaupal. '

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), the premier body of Muslims in the country, has rejected the idea of uniform civil code and condemned what is being said in its favour. AIMPLB General Secretary Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani said in a statement on Tuesday that the ucc's raag alaapana by the governments of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and the Centre is nothing but a fake rhetoric.
