National Voters' Day is celebrated on 25th January every year. We are all aware that on completion of 18 years, new voters who have registered their names in the electoral roll get voter identity cards. They are sworn in to protect democratic values. India is a democratic country, it is the duty of every citizen to exercise his universal suffrage for the country and for himself. This time it is the 11th National Voters' Day which is being celebrated today. On 25th January 2011, the National Voters' Day was inaugurated by the then National President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil on the 61st establishment year of the Election Commission established from 1950.

The two major themes of the event were 'Inclusive and Qualitative Partnership'. The Election Commission's objective behind the celebration of the day was that all eligible voters who would be 18 years old on January one will be identified every year in all polling booth areas across the country. The names of new voters aged 18 years and above will be registered in the electoral roll and will be handed over to the election photo identity card. The work of sharing identity cards will be expressed socially, educationally and non-political. On this occasion, voters will also be given a batch, which will have a logo and a slogan will also be recorded, " Proud to be a voter, ready to vote."

This time the National Voters' Day is going to be very special. This time the election Commission of India is fully coming to the digital platform. The e-EPIC mobile app is being launched on 25th January by the election Commission. Through this app, voters can download their identity cards through mobile.
