New Delhi: On the question of formal approval of the corona vaccine Covaxin manufactured in India, the World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday said the approval process sometimes takes longer. State that the WHO has not yet given formal approval for the use of Covaxin of Bharat Biotech.

WHO has so far approved seven vaccines to eliminate coronaviruses all over the world. Vaccines sanctioned by WHO include Moderna, Pfizer-Bionic, Johnson & Johnson, Oxford/Astrazeneca, Covishield of India, China's Sinoform and Sinovac vaccines. A WHO official has reported that the process of fully evaluating and recommending a vaccine for use sometimes takes longer.

He further said that it has to be ensured that the world is given the right advice, even if it takes a week or two. Soumya Swaminathan, the principal scientist at the Global Health Agency, has said that the technical advisory group of WHO will convene on October 26 to consider listing the vaccine being used in the corona vaccination campaign in India for emergency use.
