New Delhi: The Supreme Court in an important observation today said that the Centre and the state government should take all possible measures to provide food to hungry citizens. No citizen in the country dies of hunger, but even after the National Food Security Act, people are dying of hunger. Let us know that the top court has made this observation while hearing a petition.

Hearing a petition filed in connection with the matter, the Supreme Court has said that it is a matter of concern. The court said that ration cards should be provided to all migrant workers to get subsidized foodgrains. On how to implement it, the court has asked the central government to make suggestions. A bench of Justices M R Shah and B V Nagarathna made the observations while hearing about the problem of migrant workers. The apex court also said that as a welfare state, two people are the most important in our country - farmers and migrant labourers.

The court said migrant workers play a very important role in building the country. They cannot be ignored at all. In the case initiated by taking suo motu cognizance of the Supreme Court on migrant workers during the Corona period, Justice Shah remarked that in India, farmers and migrant workers are the two classes who are eligible for help. Some states are lagging behind in their help. He said that many states have not been able to reach even half the target.
