India Prime Mister Narendra Modi on Sunday tweeted to congratulate Gorakhpur-based Gita Press for being conferred with the Gandhi Peace Prize for the year 2021. The Prime Minster praised the organization for its commendable work over the last 100 years toward furthering social and cultural transformations among the people.

But today, June 19,  The Gita Press in Gorakhpur has refused to accept Rs one crore cash reward for the Gandhi Peace Award. It said that it would only accept the citation and not the cash prize.
