You all must know that International Women's Day is celebrated on 8 March every year worldwide. This day is celebrated with great pomp. International Women's Day was first celebrated in the year 1909. But it got official recognition in 1975. The United Nations started celebrating this day with a theme. For your information, let us tell you that today women are ahead in every field but this was not the case in the past. The kind of freedom we see women today, they were not before. Neither she was able to study nor was able to do a job, nor did she have the freedom to vote. In 1908, 15,000 women took out a march in New York City to demand voting rights, to reduce working hours and to get better pay. A year later, in 1909, the first National Women's Day was celebrated on 28 February in the United States, as announced by the Socialist Party of America.
In 1910, a woman named clara zetkin floated the idea of celebrating International Women's Day, suggesting that women should celebrate International Women's Day in every country to pursue their demands. In a conference, more than 100 women from 17 countries agreed to this suggestion and International Women's Day was established, its main objective at that time was to get women the right to vote. On 19 March 1911, International Women's Day was celebrated for the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. It was reduced to 8 March in 1913 and since then it is celebrated on this day every year. In 1975, the United Nations began celebrating this day with a theme. Since then, it is celebrated every year with a new theme.
