Kolkata: A 6-member team led by former Patna High Court Chief Justice Narasimha Reddy had arrived to visit the violence-hit Hooghly district over the communal violence that took place on the occasion of Ram Navami last week in West Bengal's Howrah area, but was stopped by the police. Gave. Narasimha Reddy has told the media that we have been stopped, and the police are saying that CrPC Section 144 has been imposed in the area, but there is nothing here. They are scared because they will be busted.

Meanwhile, a Bengal police official says a team led by retired Patna High Court Chief Justice L Narasimha Reddy was stopped near Konnagar on its way to Serampore and Rishra as prohibitory orders were still in force in the area. The team is scheduled to visit Shibpur in Howrah district on Sunday (April 9) and is also seeking a meeting with state Home Secretary BP Gopalika over the communal violence during Ram Navami. Speaking to the media, Charu Wali Khanna, a member of the fact-finding team, said, 'They (the police) are stopping me and standing like a wall. What is the government hiding? Is the state government not capable of maintaining law and order? We are not going with the crowd. We just want to meet the victims.

Let us tell you that, after the violence, CM Mamata Banerjee said that Muslims cannot do any wrong in the month of Ramzan; only the processionists entered the Muslim area with their procession and raised objectionable slogans, which incited the violence. After this statement by Mamta, similar news also appeared in the media. However, videos of people pelting stones at the procession have appeared on social media. Even before Ram Navami, Mamta Banerjee had warned in a statement that if there is an attack on a Muslim's house during the procession, I will not leave it'. Now it is also worth noting that, on the one hand, Mamta Banerjee is asking why the processionists entered the Muslim area, while the Calcutta High Court says that the procession was taken out only through the route decided by the Bengal Police. This begs the question: if there was an apprehension of violence in a Muslim area, why did the police give permission to take the procession out of there? And what were those objectionable slogans, which the police either did not hear or, even if they did, did not stop the protestors from raising them? And even if the slogans were objectionable, the people of the Muslim community could have complained to the police; why did they pelt stones at the procession?

Let us tell you, Mamta Banerjee herself has also been seen getting irritated many times with the slogans of Jai Shri Ram. Mamta has left the stage many times due to the slogan Jai Shri Ram being raised in the programmes. In such a situation, it can be assumed that Mamta Banerjee has objections to this slogan, and it is possible that when this slogan was chanted in the Ram Navami procession, Mamta supporters got agitated and attacked. Although a team led by the former Chief Justice of Patna High Court has reached Bengal to find out the truth, they are not being allowed to go to the riot-affected area. In such a situation, the question arises: Is the Mamta government trying to hide the truth about the riots?
