Mumbai: The Mumbai Police has registered an FIR against Union Minister Narayan Rane and his MLA son Nitesh Rane. It has been alleged that the Union Minister allegedly defamed late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's late former manager Disha Salian on all media platforms. Disha's family had lodged a complaint with the police in this regard. Disha's mother Vasanti Salian, after contacting the Maharashtra State Commission for Women (MSCW), had lodged a complaint against Narayan Rane and his son Nitesh Rane herself on Saturday. In which he had demanded action against Narayan Rane, Nitesh Rane and others, accusing him of defaming his family on other platforms, including social media.

Vasanthi Salian, citing the FIR, said Rane had made several defamatory claims in connection with Disha's death. Earlier, the Maharashtra State Commission for Women (MSCW) had demanded the Mumbai Police to block social media accounts spreading misinformation about Disha Salian's death and also take action against BJP-linked Narayan Rane and his son Nitesh in this connection.

Earlier on Sunday, in a series of tweets, Maharashtra State Commission for Women (MSCW) chairperson Rupali Chakankar said that the Malvani police in Mumbai had told the commission that Salian's postmortem report stated that she was not raped and that she was not pregnant. Recently, Narayan Rane, while addressing a press conference, made some claims about the death of late Disha Salian. On June 8, 2020, Disha Salian had committed suicide by jumping from a high-rise building in the suburban Malad area. Six days later, on June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput (34) was found hanging from the noose in his apartment in Bandra. According to a Mumbai Police official, the Maharashtra State Commission for Women (MSCW) had written to the Malwani police seeking registration of an FIR against Narayan Rane, Nitesh and others. Subsequently, the police have registered a case against the culprits under several sections.
