Hindi...! It is not just a word or language, but it is a pride, passion, joy, life. Above all, it is the mother of crores of Indians. Where the whole world considers language as mere language, then we have also called language as mother. Only such a language of honor can be given in our country. We call the language of this country, then we have addressed the soil of this country as mother. As such, our language is not an observance of any special Diwas, although in its honor, the Diwas of September 14 is celebrated as Hindi Diwas. The whole world celebrates World Hindi Diwas on 10 January. In such a situation, it is very important to know when and how Hindi was given the status of official language in India?

The date 14 September 1949 is recorded in golden letters. Because this is the date when Hindi was given the status of official language. But behind this there has been many years of hard work and struggle. The initiative for this was intensified before independence and especially after independence. In the year 1918, the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi had said about Hindi at the Hindi Literature Conference that Hindi is the language of the public.

How Hindi became official language?

After India's independence, the biggest question for the country was about language. After long deliberations of the stalwarts, along with Hindi, the English language was also given the status of the official language of the new India. It was decided by the Constituent Assembly that Hindi will be the official language of India. On 14 September 1949, the whole world including India became witness to this decision. On 14 September 1949, Hindi was given the status of official language, but celebrating Hindi Diwas was still far away. The first Hindi Diwas was celebrated on 14 September 1953. Realizing the importance of 14 September, the then Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, announced to celebrate Hindi Diwas on 14 September. Where the first Hindi Diwas was celebrated on 14 September 1953, since then, this trend has continued.
