RAE BARELI: A woman along with her lover were detained in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli for allegedly killing her husband, police said.
The accused portrayed the scene to make it look like a case of suicide. They even made a suicide note, saying that no one was responsible for the death.
Alok Priyadarshi, who is in charge of the police in Rae Bareli, said that the accused woman, Shubha Devi, was married to Rajesh, who worked at an auto company in Gujarat. Shubha Devi was 32 years old.
Shubha, who lived in Rae Bareli, dated Sumair, who was 38 years old.
When Rajesh came back for the Dussehra holidays last week and found out that his wife was seeing someone else, he insisted that she come with him to Gujarat.
This made Shubha and Sumair feel uncomfortable, so they strangled Rajesh and hung his body from the ceiling to make it look like he killed himself.
The autopsy, on the other hand, showed that Rajesh had been strangled to death.
But Shubha was the one who told the police that her husband had killed himself at their home near the Gadaganj police station.
"A team went to the scene and took the body to a morgue, but they couldn't figure out why it had happened, so they called the victim's brother. He said that he had talked to his brother Rajesh just minutes before the accident, and Rajesh didn't sound sad or worried about anything "said the SP.
The police team also found a suicide note, but experts in handwriting from the Forensic Science Laboratory said that Rajesh did not write it.
"We also looked at the wife of the victim's phone records and found the number of a person she used to talk to for a long time at odd times. Sumair, who was running the number, was found by a team and identified "said the SP.
Sumair's handwriting was also looked at, and it was the same as the writing on the suicide note.
"When we questioned Sumair, he told us that he and the victim's wife strangled Rajesh first and then made it look like he killed himself," said Arvind Singh, Station House Officer in Gadaganj.
