Chandigarh: The Punjab Police has arrested Amritpal Singh, the head of the pro-Khalistan organization Waris Punjab De. Amritpal was caught from Moga's Rodewal Gurudwara, after which he has been sent to Dibrugarh Jail in Assam via a special flight from Bathinda airport. Earlier it was being said that Amritpal has surrendered, regarding this the IG of Punjab Police has informed that he has been arrested in a joint operation with central agencies.

Punjab Police's IG Sukhchain Singh Gill told that Amritpal Singh was arrested at quarter to seven this morning. We had received intelligence that he is present inside the Gurudwara, after which we surrounded the entire village from all sides in a joint operation by the Punjab Police and intelligence agencies. We carried out this campaign keeping in mind the dignity of the Gurudwara.  

IG Sukhchain Gill said that action has been taken against Amritpal under the National Security Act (NSA). He warned that no one would be allowed to spoil the atmosphere. On the basis of intelligent input, Amritpal has been caught this morning at quarter to seven. At the same time, the IG also thanked the people of Punjab. He said that during this entire operation, people maintained peace and order in Punjab. Along with this, Punjab Police managed law and order.
