LONDON: Batsman Shakib Al Hasan (124*) and Liton Das (94*) helped Bangladesh beat the West Indies by seven wickets in the 23rd world cup match on Monday. The hosts were bundled out for 189 runs for the third wicket. With this victory, Bangladesh made history. For the first time in the World Cup, Bangladesh beat the West Indies.

According to sources, West Indies were 321 for 8 in the stipulated 50 overs against Shai Hope (96), Evin Lewis (70) and Shimron Hetmeyer (50) after losing the toss and batting first. In reply, Bangladesh clinched the match with 51 balls to spare. For Bangladesh, Shakib scored an unbeaten 124 runs with 16 fours in 99 balls. He completed his century with a four in 33.6 overs. This is the ninth century of his ODI career, while the second in the current World Cup.

Earlier, Shakib scored 121 runs against England. Shakib completed his century with 13 fours in 83 balls. Besides, Liton Das missed a century. He completed his half-century in 43 balls. Liton scored 94 runs with eight fours and four sixes in 69 balls.
