Today is World Tourism Day which is observed every year on 27 November. This time the theme of World Tourism Day is to tell all of you that the purpose of celebrating World Tourism Day is 'Tourism and Rural Development'. It is celebrated to raise awareness about the role of tourism around the world and promote social, cultural, political and economic values and it also helps to increase mutual understanding among people. On the occasion of World Tourism Day, many types of events are organized around the world which are quite spectacular. Today we are going to tell you about it.

It is said that World Tourism Day was started in view of the importance and popularity of tourism and the purpose of celebrating this day is to make people around the world aware of tourism. In order to make people aware, the United Nations World Tourism Organization keeps the theme of World Tourism Day different every year and the United Nations decided to celebrate World Tourism Day on 27 September.

September 27 was chosen for World Tourism Day because the Constitution of the World Tourism Organization was adopted on this day in 1970. In 2018 more than 1 crore foreign tourists came to India. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Tourism, 1.65 billion domestic tourists visited in 2017 and the growth in tourism is increasing day by day.
