Opposition takes 'Mahatma' against CAA-NRC, Yashwant Sinha begins 'Gandhi Yatra'

New Delhi: Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha's Gandhi Shanti Yatra has begun against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Citizenship Register (NRC). Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) national president Sharad Pawar has reached Mumbai's Gateway of India to join this journey. Nawab Malik, Prakash Ambedkar and Prithviraj Chavan were also present with them.

The journey has started from Mumbai's Gateway of India, which will go through many states and end in Delhi, the country's capital. During the Gandhi Shanti Yatra, the Central Government will be demanded to announce in Parliament that the National Civil Register (NRC) will not be provided. The yatra will end at Rajghat in Delhi on 30 January via Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana.

Yashwant Sinha, who was the finance minister in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, recently attacked the Narendra Modi government. Yashwant Sinha, who reached the Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi, had said that the Modi government at the Center had claimed to make Kashmir like the rest of the country, but the situation has become such that now the whole country has become Kashmir.
