Lucknow: Lucknow and Varanasi are poised for a transformative initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption of solar energy in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi government is set to launch the 'Har Ghar Solar Abhiyan' throughout the entire month of October, commencing on October 2, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary.

The primary objective of this campaign is to encourage the widespread utilization of solar energy and actively work towards achieving the ambitious targets outlined in the Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy 2022. This policy, overseen by the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), sets a goal of installing 6000 megawatts of solar rooftop plants for both residential and commercial use.

The benefits of the 'Har Ghar Solar Abhiyan' are manifold:

Clean and Sustainable Energy: Solar energy is a clean and renewable source of power, reducing carbon emissions and promoting a greener environment.

Energy Cost Savings: Solar rooftop systems can lead to substantial energy cost savings for both residential and commercial consumers, offering a sustainable and economically viable energy source.

Reduced Dependency on Grid Power: By harnessing solar energy, households and businesses can reduce their reliance on conventional grid power, contributing to energy independence.

Job Creation: The growth of the solar energy sector creates job opportunities, benefiting the local economy and communities.

Support for Green Initiatives: 'Har Ghar Solar Abhiyan' aligns with national and international efforts to combat climate change and reduce the carbon footprint.

Anupam Shukla, the Director of UPNEDA, provided insights into the campaign's launch. The inaugural 'Har Ghar Solar Abhiyan' boot camp is scheduled to take place at Vikas Bhawan in Lucknow and near the Municipal Corporation office in Varanasi. This camp is designed to cater not only to residential and commercial consumers but also to engage officers and employees from various departments who have a stake in the promotion of solar energy.

The camp will serve as an invaluable resource for attendees, offering comprehensive information on the installation of solar rooftop systems. Additionally, individuals interested in adopting solar energy will gain insights into the application process. Furthermore, the camp will provide details on the setup and usage of net meters, an essential component of solar energy systems.

Overall, the 'Har Ghar Solar Abhiyan' represents a significant stride toward Uttar Pradesh's commitment to harnessing the potential of solar energy. By educating and engaging both consumers and stakeholders, this initiative aims to accelerate the state's transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources while commemorating the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary.
