SEOUL: Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating in South Korea dropped 2.2 percentage points to 44.4% last week, according to a new poll released on Monday. This is the latest in a string of national polls that gave the president a poor rating.

According to a local pollster, Realmeter, Yoon's handling of state affairs received a 2.5 percentage point increase, bringing the rating to 50.2%.The support for the conservative People Power Party, which is currently in power, fell 1.3 percentage points week over week to 43.5 percent last week. The Democratic Party, the biggest liberal opposition, had an increase in support of 0.8 percentage points to 40.3 percent.

Last week, the minor progressive Justice Party received 4.4 percent of the vote, an increase of 0.2 percentage points from the week before. In a different survey conducted by Research View on Sunday, 51% of respondents said Yoon has been performing his duties as president insufficiently, while 45% felt he is doing a good job.

Yoon received a 53% acceptance rating in the May 28-30 Yoon poll conducted by Research View, with just 40% of respondents giving the incoming President a poor performance grade.

Earlier, Yoon received a disapproval rating of 47.7% in a Realmeter poll conducted from June 20 to 24, 1.1 points higher than the approval rating. On June 24 and 25, the Korea Society Opinion Institute conducted a poll, which revealed a disapproval rating of 47.4% and an approval rating of 46.8%.
