Zero accident in Guntakal Railway Division for four consecutive years: DRM

Guntakal : Guntakal Railway Division has been declared as an accident-free division. Around 310 trains and 160 goods trains pass through the Divisional Railway route. About 70 lakh passengers travel in the division every day. The division is getting revenue of Rs 124 crore annually. During the pandemic, the lockdown period was utilized for the maintenance of over 2,000 km of railway tracks and trains in the division and 162 railway stations in the division.

Measures were taken to ensure that trains run at a speed of 130 kmph between Guntakal-Wadi and Guntakal-Renugunta by strengthening the tracks. Every week the DRM (Divisional Railway Manager) is reviewing the train and passenger safety along with the concerned staff. DRM Venkataraman Reddy expressed happiness over the department registering zero accidents for four consecutive years.

The DRM initiated several development works including construction of Railway Control Room at a cost of Rs 14 crore to decongest the crowd, apart from other station beautification works. A canteen building around the DRM office at a cost of Rs 50 lakh and a vehicle parking shed at a cost of Rs 60 lakh is also in progress.
