Goa: A footbridge in  South Goa's Curchorem collapsed and at least 50 people fell down into a river due to the collapse. The people who were rescued out of which few were taken to the hospital.

The whole incident took place when the police were trying to rescue a youth who jumped off the bridge.

The  Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted "Spoke to Goa CM Shri @manoharparrikar regarding the bridge collapse on Sanvordem River. Search and rescue ops have been intensified," 

The Indian Navy tweeted; "9 Navy Divers with Geminis boats & associated equipment rush to Curchorem, South Goa bridge collapse site for Search & Rescue operation."
