New Delhi: The fall in automobile fuel prices across the country has brought a lot of relief to the people. At the national level, petrol and diesel prices have remained stable for the third consecutive day since Deepawali. The fall in petrol and diesel prices on the occasion of Deepawali has brought relief to the people. For the first time since July, petrol will be sold below Rs.100 in 15 States and Union Territories. Let us tell you that by the beginning of the second week of July, fuel had reached Rs 100 in almost every part of the country. Petrol prices have come down below Rs 100 in 15 States and Union Territories, where BJP and opposition governments are in power. Karnataka, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh as well as Union Territories of Ladakh are not included. Even after the tax cuts at the Centre and the state, the fuel price here is more than Rs 100.

Let me tell you that on Diwali, the Centre reduced petrol prices by Rs 5 and diesel by Rs 10, which helped the inflation-hit people a lot. The announcement of a similar cut in petrol and diesel prices has added to the political fervour. While 16 states and 7 Union Territories have voted to reduce VAT, 12 states and 1 Union Territory are reluctant to do so as it will be economically harmful.

Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress led Maharashtra, AAP-led Delhi, TMC-led West Bengal, DMK-led Tamil Nadu, TRS-ruled Telangana, YSRCP-ruled Andhra Pradesh, NPP-led Meghalaya, Jhamumo-led Jharkhand, Congress-Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Andaman and Nicobar are among the 13 states and Union Territories, Who have not reduced VAT on petrol and diesel so far.
