Gopalganj: 24 persons were died in Gopalganj and West Champaran in Bihar after consuming poisonous liquor in the last two days. The incidents are opening a poll on claims of liquor ban in Bihar. In the last 15 days, 40 people have died in Bihar. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has strongly ordered action against the culprits in these cases.

Nitish Kumar convened a high-level meeting on deaths due to poisonous liquor on Friday. Nitish Kumar directed the concerned officials to take strict action in connection with the recent incidents of poisonous liquor. At the same time, they have ordered the officers to identify the criminal officers and take action against them.

On the other hand, Gopalganj Collector Dr Naval Kishor Choudhary said, 11 persons have died. He said, the facts that have come to light so far show that an attempt was made to make liquor from the spirit. After the FSL report comes, we can say for sure, on the basis of the statements of the persons, the deaths were due to spurious liquor, it cannot be officially confirmed yet. On the other hand, Gopalganj SP Anand Kumar said that since the last 24 hours, a campaign against liquor is being conducted in the district, more than 50 places have been raided, in which 19 persons were arrested and 270 litres of country liquor seized. And 6 vehicles have been recovered.
