Bangalore: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Karnataka government has changed its stand on the deportation of Rohingyas and filed a revised affidavit in this regard in the apex court. It may be recalled that the Karnataka government had recently clarified that there is no plan at present to deport (Deportation of Rohingyas) Rohingyas living in the capital Bengaluru.

The Karnataka government says it will comply with all court orders. The government had earlier sought quashing of a petition filed in 2017 by advocate Ashwini Upadhyay seeking directions to deport illegal Rohingyas. The government's Home Department said in a recent affidavit, "The state police have not placed Rohingyas (Rohingyas) in any camp or detention centre under their jurisdiction. However, 126 Rohingyas have been identified in Karnataka.' The Karnataka government has filed a revised affidavit in the Supreme Court in response to a petition seeking deportation of illegal migrants. He said there are 126 Rohingyas in the province and the government will abide by whatever the court orders.

Earlier, in an affidavit in the Supreme Court, the state government had said, 'Bengaluru City Police has not kept Rohingyas in any camp or detention centre under its jurisdiction.' However, 72 Rohingyas have been identified in Bengaluru city who are working in different areas and Bengaluru City Police has not taken any stringent action against them so far and is yet to deport them. There's no plan.'
