Itanagar: The virus tally in the northeastern state rose to 50,973 with 180 fresh COVID-19 cases. State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said the death toll in the marginal state remained at 251 as there were no casualties in the state in the last 24 hours. The capital complex area reported the maximum number of 62 new cases, followed by Papumpare and Lohit with 19-19, Lower Subansiri and East Siang 13-13, Changlang (8), West Kameng (7), Namsai (6) and Kamle. The maximum number of new cases were registered in 5 cases. New cases of coronavirus were also reported in other districts of the state.

Of the fresh cases, 172 were detected through rapid antigen test; And four each through RT-PCR and through TrueNat methods, the official said, there were 77 people with symptoms. The active cases in the state now stand at 2,395. On Thursday, 273 patients were cured of the disease, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 48,327. The official said the recovery rate of coronavirus patients in the state is 94.81 per cent, while the active percentage is 4.70 and the positivity rate is 4.18 per cent.

The capital complex region (Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Bandardeva) has the highest number of active cases at 634, followed by Lower Subansiri (306), Papumpare (221), West Kameng (160) and Lohit (150). A total of 9,95,137 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the state so far, including 4,294 as on Thursday, said Jampa, 26 districts of the state. State Immunization Officer (SSO) Dr Dimong Padung informed that a total of 9,01,032 people in the state have been given doses of COVID-19 vaccine since the vaccination campaign started in January this year.
