Bus on way to celebrate Eid collides, 30 killed, 40 injured passengers

Lahore: A major road accident has been reported in Pakistan on Monday. In Punjab province, a bus full of passengers collided with a truck in Dera Ghazi Khan district. So far 30 people have been reported killed in the accident. While more than 40 people are injured. Most of the workers on the bus were on their way home to celebrate Eid-al-Azha.

Officials said the bus was on its way from Sialkot to Rajanpur. Meanwhile, the bus met with an accident on the Indus Highway near Taunsa bypass in Dera Ghazi Khan district. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Doctors at the hospital said 18 people had died before reaching the hospital. Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhary said at least 30 people have lost their lives in an accident near Dera Ghazi Khan. Punjab CM Usman Bujdar and Home Minister Sheikh Rashid have expressed grief over the incident.

The police officer quoted an injured passenger as saying that the driver may have fallen asleep, which diverted control of the vehicle. Punjab CM Usman Bujdar has expressed grief over the accident but has not announced any compensation for the victims.
