Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has adopted the policy of zero tolerance in the case of spurious liquor. After suspending three excise inspectors, the government has now blamed the assistant commissioner of state and excise for negligence in duty. The government has sent show cause notices to four assistant commissioners of excise, ensuring accountability. After which these four senior officers have been asked to give their answers soon.

The four officers to whom show-cause notices have been issued include two from Mandi district, while one each from Hamirpur and Kangra districts. Let us tell you that if the government is not satisfied with the answer of the officers, then the government can also suspend these four assistant commissioners. Earlier, the state government has suspended excise inspector Rajesh Kumar of Hamirpur and two excise inspectors Ram Kumar and Rajiv of Kangra for not discharging their duties properly and posted them at Shimla headquarters. Now action can also be taken against the Assistant Commissioner.

Let us inform that in January, seven people had lost their lives due to consumption of spurious liquor in Mandi district. The government had constituted SIT to investigate this matter. Soon after the formation, the SIT had busted the illegal liquor factory while raiding Panyala in Hamirpur district. The SIT had arrested a dozen accused by recovering more than 515 liquor boxes here. Along with this, the SIT has also arrested the accused involved in this case by confiscating a large quantity of illicit liquor in Hamirpur, Mandi, Kangra and Solan districts.
