Between the lockdown and the corona crisis, eight political parties have jointly written a letter to President Ramnath Kovind, accusing the central government of weakening the labour law under the cover of the coronavirus epidemic. In a letter sent on Friday, the parties have expressed their opposition on this issue.

CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI General Secretary D. Raja, CPI (Male) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, All India Forward Bloc Secretary-General Debabrata Biswas, Revolutionary Socialist Party General Secretary Manoj Bhattacharya, RJD MP Manoj Jha, Tiru Tola Kavali Tola Chairman Vidutalai Chirutaigal and Democratic Janata Dal leader Sharad Yadav signed the letter.

Apart from this, it has been said in this letter that workers are being treated like slaves. Bringing them up to this position is not only a violation of the constitution but also to make it ineffective. Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Punjab have increased the working hours from eight to 12 hours without amending the Factories Act. The parties have also expressed the possibility of other states coming on this path. Uttar Pradesh has exempted factory, business, establishment and industries from three provisions of labour law and all provisions except one other law for three years. The Madhya Pradesh government has freed all the establishments from all the labour laws for one thousand days from all accountability. The parties have said that the Indian economy was in recession even before the outbreak of the epidemic.
