Washington: 'German Shepherd' dog infected with Coronavirus has died in America. This was the first confirmed case of a dog being found coronavirus positive. Robert and Alison Mahoney from Staten Island reported to 'National Geographic' that their seven-year-old dog 'Buddy' had trouble breathing in the middle of April and was in the grip of infection for several weeks.

A vet examined Buddy in May, who found him corona infected. The US Department of Agriculture reported in June that a 'German Shepherd' in New York was the first dog found in the country to suffer corona. On 11 July his condition deteriorated, he was given a painless death. Cancer was also detected in his blood test. However, it is not clear whether he died of coronavirus or not.

The Department of Agriculture has confirmed coronavirus infection in many animals in the US. So far, 12 dogs, 10 cats, a tiger and a lion have been found corona infected. The department said that there has been no evidence of coronavirus outbreak from animals, but it appears that in some circumstances the infection can spread from people to animals.
