Kolkata: The alleged serial killer who hunted lonely middle-aged women at home has been arrested from this small town in East Burdwan district in West Bengal. Police have reported the case on Tuesday, alleging that the Kamaruz Jamaan Sarkaar is accused of killing five women and injuring several others in the eastern Burdwan district and Hooghly district of the neighborhood.

The 42-year-old, who was dressed in the latest fashion trends, used to enter the house on the pretext of taking electrical meter readings at noon and attack on family members with bicycle chains and iron rods. Superintendent of Police, East Burdwan district Bhaskar Mukhopadhyay said the District Court has brought the Sarkaar to 12-days police custody on Monday in connection with the murder of Putul Majhi in Goara village on May 21.

The police had sought his custody to question him in connection with the investigation into the role of the Sarkaar in four other cases. All these murders were done in the same manner. Mukhopadhyay said that he used to escape from the victims ' homes with valuables, but his intention was not to steal. Killing women seems to be his primary goal. He said the Sarkar put sharp things in their private parts after the killing of some women.
