Accident: seven people were killed in two road accidents on NH 44 in Anantapur

Andhra Pradesh: On November 5, seven people were killed and three others were seriously injured in two separate accidents on National Highway No. 44 10 kilometres apart at Pamidi and Midthur in the Anantapur district.

At 5:30 a.m., an unknown vehicle believed to be a heavy lorry travelling from Kurnool to Anantapur collided with a large autorickshaw carrying agricultural labourers as it made a U-turn on the Pamidi-NH-44 junction. According to Pamidi Circle Inspector Eranna, five women labourers died on the spot, while three others were seriously injured and taken to Gooty Government Hospital.

Sankaramma (48), Nagaveni (35), Chowdamma (35), Savithri (40), and Subbamma (45), all from Koppalakonda village in Garladinne Mandal, have been identified as the deceased. Police officers combed through all CCTV footage from the NH 44 in an attempt to identify the vehicle that caused the accident. All of the victims were on their way to pick cotton in a field.
