KABUL: Supreme leader of the Taliban-run Government  Haibatullah Akhundzada on Wednesday said that Afghanistan wants to have positive relations with all countries.

"We reassure the world, our neighbors, and the region that we won't permit anyone to use our territory to threaten the security of other nations. We ask other nations to refrain from meddling in our internal issues " Akhundzada said in a congratulatory message on the eve of Eid al-Adha, an annual Muslim festival.'

The Taliban commander said that "we want strong, diplomatic, economic and political relations with the world, including the United States, and we believe this in the interest of all sides, within the framework of mutual contact and commitment." Depending on moon sightings, the nation will celebrate Eid al-Adha on or around July 9.

After the US military's defeat and withdrawal from Afghanistan last August, Washington slapped sanctions on the Taliban government and frozen more than USD 9 billion in the country's central bank, which severely harmed the war-torn nation's economy, as per reports.

Akhundzada stated that the Taliban-led government was aware of every issue that Afghans were dealing with.  "We all share responsibility for boosting the economy, reestablishing the nation, and solving the outstanding issues. Let's cooperate on all legal fronts, be there for one another, and rebuild this nation to be successful "he said.
