In the case, a 17-year-old girl in Rajasthan, who got sexual harassment, committed suicide by setting her ablaze. The girl died on the spot due to the scorching fire and the incident happened in Nagaur district of Rajasthan. Earlier, the victim's father had lodged an FIR against the accused in May.

Makrana HSO Jitendra Singh Charan said that "We have registered a case where a father said that his daughter put himself on fire by adding kerosene. The girl's body has been sent for post-mortem." According to the police, the accused was arrested after registering a case against him as per a complaint made by the father of the girl. Police arrested the accused and registered a case against him under the protection of children from sexual Acts (POCSO) Act, section 376 (rape).
