Maharashtra: In -charge of the All India Congress Committee, Maharashtra HK Patil is in consultation with senior party leaders on leadership change in the state unit keeping in mind the policy of 'one man one post'. This news has been revealed by sources. According to the sources on Wednesday, 'any leader (of Congress) coming from OBC community is likely to be appointed as the new chairman of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee'.

Thorat is currently the Maharashtra Congress President as well as the Revenue Minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government of the state. He is also discharging the responsibility of the leader of the Congress Legislature Party. HK Patil, who is on a two-day visit, had a discussion with senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan in the Sahyadri guest house on Tuesday night. He then held a meeting with Thorat.

He also met the state Public Works Minister Ashok Chavan on Wednesday morning. He later spoke separately to Congress ministers, MLAs and senior leaders. Now Congress sources say that during the meeting there was talk about the current state of the party and how to innovate in it. The sources also say, "It seems that the formula of one person one post will be implemented." Thorat had the option to continue on either of the posts of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress President or a minister in the MVA government. But he (Thorat) has expressed his desire to leave the post of organization.

In the race for the post of Maharashtra Congress President, Gujarat in charge of Congress Rajiv Satav, ministers in Maharashtra government Amit Deshmukh, Yashomati Thakur, Vijay Vadettivar and Vishwajit Kadam are also imvolved.
