New Delhi: Regarding the new variant of coronavirus Omicron, Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS Delhi has issued a new warning saying that vaccine and behavior according to the Kovid-protocol are the only two ways to stop the increasing spread of the new variant of the corona. After corona in the world, now its Omicron has started wreaking havoc.

It is spreading rapidly in India too. According to reports, the first case of Omicron was registered in India on December 2. Since then, more than 340 Omicron cases have been reported in India. Dr. Guleria explained, 'Omicron is a more infectious variant. We need to do two things to protect ourselves, one is to take the vaccine and the second is to follow the covid-appropriate behavior. Earlier, Dr. Guleria had said that existing vaccines can be changed for protection from Omicron.'

He has said, "We will have second-generation vaccines. This is something that we need to keep in mind. Existing vaccines are effective, but with new variants coming in, their immunity may be reduced. However, vaccines can be changed, research is also underway on whether we can have a dual capacity corona vaccine. Suppose delta variants and beta variants are mixed in a vaccine, it will become a double capacity vaccine.'
