New Delhi: A recent video has emerged featuring Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a figure associated with the Khalistani movement, issuing a warning to individuals planning to travel with Air India on November 19. In the video circulated on social media, Pannun can be heard cautioning that those who choose to fly with Air India on that date may be in danger.
Pannun, who leads the banned US-based organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), urged Sikh people not to use Air India on November 19, claiming that a global blockade would be in effect. He also alleged that Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport would be closed on that day and its name would be altered. Notably, November 19 is the same date as the final match of an ongoing cricket World Cup. In a previous video message on October 10, Pannun had threatened Prime Minister Narendra Modi, drawing parallels between the Israel-Palestine conflict and potential reactions in India, warning that violence could lead to more violence.
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, originally from Amritsar, has been under the scrutiny of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) since 2019 when the agency initiated its first case against him. He has been accused of actively promoting and orchestrating acts of terrorism, sowing fear, and instigating terror in Punjab and other regions of India through his threats and intimidation tactics.
To add to the gravity of the situation, non-bailable warrants for Pannun's arrest were issued by a special NIA court on February 3, 2021, and he was declared a "Proclaimed Offender" (PO) on November 29 of the preceding year. This situation highlights the ongoing challenges posed by individuals like Pannun in the context of national security.
