Kochi: A shocking case has come out of Kochi. 657 grams of gold has been recovered from the air intelligence unit (AIU) of Kannur, Kochi on Wednesday night from 1 passenger, Sharjah (United Arab Emirates). The price of this gold is 30.75 lakh rupees. According to the Customs Commission of Kochi, the passenger has been taken into custody and the case is being investigated.

This is not the first time. Passengers have been caught illegally fetching gold from the UAE at the Kochi Airport for the past few days. Recently, the Air Intelligence Unit of Kozhikode recovered gold from the property of two passengers. It also seized 334 grams of gold and 230 grams of raw jewelery near two passengers from Sharjah, Dubai.

The Commissionerate of Customs had reported this. The officer further told that one of these passengers had hidden jewels inside his socks while the others were wearing it on his body. At present, the case is under investigation. When a person buys goods from outside countries and brings it to another country, then that person has to pay tax to the government according to the price of the goods. To avoid paying this tax, some people bring the goods in secret. Due to which it is caught during scanning at the airport. It consists mostly of expensive goods like gold, silver etc. which are available in cheap prices in many countries.
