Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer Kesari is doing great business at the box –office. The period war drama, on its fifth Thursday, added Rs 10 lakh more to its kitty. After a 29-day run at the box-office, its total collection has reached Rs 151.76 crore. With this collection the film has now surpassed the lifetime collection of the Aamir Khan-starrer Thugs of Hindostan that released on Diwali last year. The Yash Raj Films venture, co-starring Amitabh Bachchan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Katrina Kaif, had collected Rs 151.19 crore in its lifetime.

Anurag Singh directorial has now almost exhausted its run and will most likely wrap up in another three-four days. The job, however, is done. Kesari is based on the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi that saw a miniscule 21-member army of Sikhs taking on 10,000 Afghan invaders. In what is touted as the bravest military combat, the Sikhs had laid down their lives but not before eliminating 900 soldiers of the enemy.

 The film is not only a clean hit but also the first Rs 150 crore-grosser of Akshay’s career, which is a good start for the actor who has three more films coming up this year. While Good News will release on September 6, Mission Mangal is lined up for August 15.  Housefull 4, will be a Diwali release.
