Top-ranked Carlos Alcaraz and two-time champion Novak Djokovic are set to meet in the semi-finals, organizers of the Grand Slam tournament French Open released the draw for the tournament on Thursday. World number one Alcaraz will open his campaign against a qualifier, while Djokovic, seeking his 23rd Grand Slam title, will face Alexander Kovacevich of America in the first leg.

Rafael Nadal, who won the Roland Garros (French Open) title for the record 14th time last year, will not be able to participate in the tournament this year due to a hip injury. It will be the first time since 2004 that Nadal, the uncrowned king of red gravel, will be away from his favorite tournament. Kasper Ruud, who lost to Nadal in the final of Roland Garros 2022, will face a qualifier in the first leg and will face Holger Rune of Denmark in the quarterfinals

Daniil Medvedev, who won his maiden clay court title at the Italian Open last week, will also open his campaign against a qualifier. Medvedev will face Italy's Janic Sinner in the quarterfinals. World number five Stefanos Tsitsipas will take on Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic in the first leg.

Fifth seed Tsitsipas will face Alcaraz in the quarterfinals. On the other hand, defending French Open women's singles champion and world number one Inga Swiatek will open her campaign against Spain's Kristina Buxa. Coming from Poland, Swiatek can face Coco Gauff of America in the quarterfinals. Swiatek defeated Gauff in the final to win Roland Garros last year. Reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina is set to open her campaign against a qualifier.

The fourth-ranked Kazakhstani will take on Wimbledon runner-up Ons Jabeur of Tunisia in the quarterfinals. Australian Open champion and world number two Aryna Sabalenka will face Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk in her opening round. The Belarus player is likely to face fifth seed Caroline Garcia of France in the last 8. The main draw of the French Open is set to begin on Sunday.
