All Souls Day November 2, Honoring Communion of Souls
All Souls Day November 2, Honoring Communion of Souls

The Christian holiday All Souls Day falls on November 2.  It pays respect and fondly remembering the souls of all friends and loved ones who have gone to the eternal abode. The day also follows All Saints Day which is traditionally followed on November 1, honoring all saints across the world. Both days are observed to honor the communion of souls.

Honoring communion of the soul is meant to believe that the souls of heaven are praying for us, in the happiness of God’s kingdom. The soul often extends help in times of need for its beloved ones in the earth, is really a phenomenon. We often hear people saying that their deceased relatives have granted them favours from heaven when they prayed to them.

Look in this way, a true story which exemplifies a departed husband helping his wife and child. Her husband had died a few years before, and she had a young son who was born just before his father’s death. One day when her son was at a neighbor’s house, she suddenly sensed her husband was speaking to her. He seemed to be telling her that their son was drowning in a swimming pool. She ran next door to the neighbors and found her son drowning in the pool, exactly as she sensed her husband telling her. She pulled her son out of the pool, just in time to save his life.

The observation of All Souls Day upholds the power of the prayer, as it is believed that our prayer can help the departed where he is now. Prayers of the departed souls have also a direct impact on our day to day life.  Praying for the souls of loved ones helps to remove the stain of sin, and allow the souls to enter the pearly gates of heaven. These all are based only the person’s genuine faith.  However in simple though it is admitted that God has kept certain matters beyond human comprehension, showing two certainties in this world for mankind. First that everyone has to die and second everyone has to leave this world empty-handed. The life is a journey, a journey from birth to death. Between birth and death, we are pilgrims on the road of God and at the end of life, the soul ultimately goes to heaven. It only remains in the earth that on death when man leaves behind his name and fame, whatever good deeds have been done by him will only be talked about.

The observation of All Souls Day gives an opportunity to keep man’s right conscience which deserves divine voice and gives us the accurate assessment of the true and false, right and wrong, and warns a man whether he is doing the right thing or not.
