PRAYAGRAJ: The High Court of Allahabad has questioned the delays by police in registering cases related to crime against women.  During the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation, the court, showing strictness, asked the state government to explain the delays.

Significantly, the division bench of Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice J.J. Munir heard a PIL filed by the grandmother of three young grandkids.

The court informed the state administration that registering a case can occasionally take more than six months. The reason for creating such a situation in the state was questioned by the court.

On March 14, Mukesh, who was residing with her daughter, was charged by the maternal grandmother with raping the young grandkids. The grandma attempted to file a formal complaint with the Ghaziabad police, but the complaint was not recorded.

Following this, a FIR was filed on April 6 following the Chief Justice's and the National Human Rights Commission's participation.

Despite the fact that the victims were children, the POCSO Act was not applied when the police filed a case under IPC 376 506 against the defendants Mukesh and Rajkumari in Tila Mor of Ghaziabad.

Following this, the grandmother went before the court and urged that the guilty officers be brought to justice through public interest litigation.
