Aizawl: The state's principal advisor for civil aviation, Wing Commander J. Lalmingliana said Alliance Air will operate the ATR 72 four days a week from October 18. Mizoram will get additional flight service on the Kolkata-Guwahati-Aizawl-Shillong sector, apart from the two existing airlines operating from the state.

The Mumbai-based regional airline will operate on the Kolkata-Guwahati-Aizawl-Shillong route on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, an official said. He said that the booking of tickets will start from October 11. According to Lalmingliana, two airlines, Air India and Indigo, are currently operating from the state.

He said that while Air India operates Airbus 319 in Kolkata-Guwahati-Aizawl-Imphal sector four days a week, IndiGo operates Airbus 320 in Delhi-Aizawl and Bangalore-Guwahati-Aizawl sector six days a week. . He said that the state may also get additional air service on the Aizawl-Agartala route from November.
