Patna: A delegation of 10 parties from Bihar supported the caste census and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today i.e. Talking to reporters after the meeting, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said, "If animals and trees can be counted, people can also be counted. The caste census will prove to be a pro-poor historic step. At the same time, Tejashwi was asked, 'Are RJD and Janata Dal (United) (JD(U) getting closer?'

So he replied, "The Opposition has always supported the Government for pro-people and pro-national steps." At the same time, he smiled and said, "If there is any work for national interest issues, for development, and for the progress of the people, the Opposition will remain with the Government." Moreover, Tejashwi Yadav also said, "If a caste census is conducted, it will be more historic in the interest of the nation. This will benefit the poor and help in implementing development and welfare schemes. Before the Mandal Commission, people in the country were not aware of castes. It is good that the State Governments have now been empowered to make a list of OBCs.''

He further said, "Conducting caste census will not create frenzy as it has been done on religious grounds in the past. No additional amount will be spent on this. The Prime Minister has listened to us seriously and now we are waiting for his decision.''
