NEW YORK: The US has provided Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with "encrypted communications technology" that allows him to "place him into a secure contact" with his US counterpart Joe Biden while Russia's attack on Kiev continues.
"Intelligence officers sprint to blend satellite pictures with electronic intercepts of Russian military forces, strip them of signs of how they were collected, and transmit them to Ukrainian military units within an hour or two," as per report in New York Times on Sunday.
As per the report, Zelensky "travels with encrypted communications equipment provided by the Americans" as he "tries to stay out of the hands of Russian forces in Kiev." According to The New York Times, on Saturday, he utilised the equipment to make a 35-minute phone call to Biden.
The call centred on what more "the US can do in its endeavour to keep Ukraine alive without engaging in direct confrontation with Russian forces on the ground, in the air, or in cyberspace."
Despite the fact that Zelensky has expressed gratitude for the assistance thus far, he has stated that it is "wildly insufficient" as Russia moves closer to Kiev's capital. A no-fly zone over Ukraine, a halt to all Russian energy exports, and a new supply of fighter jets are among the President's other demands.
