Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who arrived on a two-day visit to Northeast India, addressed a public meeting in Guwahati, Assam on Saturday. Shah said that development is gaining momentum in Assam. Assam is the jewel of the country's culture. India's development is incomplete without eastern India.

The Home Minister further said that there was also a time when there was only terrorism in the whole of Northeast India. PM Modi came to Northeast India 30 times in the last 6 years but there was also a time when a PM used to come here occasionally. He said that there was a period of agitations in Assam, agitations were held on different things, hundreds of youth were killed. The peace of Assam was destroyed, and the development of Assam was put on a break. At one time, separatists used to run their agenda in all the states here, handing guns in the hands of youth.

Home Minister Amit Shah further said that within nearly four and a half years of the journey of development in Assam, the pair of Sarbananda Sonowal and Hemant Vishwa Sharma, led by PM Modi, have taken a forward step today. Now entire Northeast India has become the growth engine of development. All terrorist organizations have now become mainstream.
