VIZAG: Police have detained the victim's wife, her lover, and another person in connection with the murder, which occurred five months after the man's charred remains were found in a canal in Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam district.

Following an investigation using the victim's cell phone, police were able to solve the mystery. Investigations showed that Sujatha, K. Raju's wife, had him killed in order to facilitate her extramarital affairs with B. Ramu. K. Nukaraju, Ramu's acquaintance who assisted him in the murder, was also detained by police.

Raju, who was born in the Vizianagaram village of Gummalaxmipuram, relocated to Chinnakollivalasa in the Hiramandalam amandal' (block) of the Srikakulam district. He wed Sujatha, a citizen of the same mandal, some ten years ago. They have two youngsters.

As per the police inquiry, the couple used to argue frequently, and Sujatha had adulterous affairs with Ramu, a native of the village of Padali. On April 4, Raju, who had previously travelled to Hyderabad to work as a labourer for a while, came back to Heera Mandal. By that time, Sujatha and Ramu had devised a scheme to murder Raju.

On April 6, Ramu, Nukaraju, and Raju allegedly drank alcohol together along the Vamsadhara river, police said. They placed Raju in an autorickshaw when he became asleep and drove him to the banks of Vamsadhara's main right canal, close to LN Peta mandal. With a wire used to start the auto rickshaw's engine, they strangled the man. The body was afterwards discarded in the fields by the accused.

Sujatha informed them when they got home that if the body was in the fields, someone may call the police and identify it. She suggested that Ramu and Nukaraju go there, so they did on the evening of April 7 and lit the body on fire by dousing it with gasoline. However, the body did not entirely burn due to the rain. The body was subsequently thrown into the canal by the accused.

A few days later, some individuals discovered a partially burned body in the canal and notified the police, who then opened an investigation into the death's strange circumstances.

Sujatha reported her husband missing to the police so that there wouldn't be any room for suspicion. On April 22, the case was opened at the Heera Mandal Police Station. Police launched an inquiry, and when they obtained the victim's mobile phone's call history, the detectives discovered some hints. Sujatha, her lover, and his companion admitted to the crime while being questioned by the police.
