Lucknow: A court in Uttar Pradesh has pronounced its verdict within 10 days after the filing of a charge sheet in the rape case of a six-year-old girl. The court sentenced the accused to life imprisonment. A fine of Rs 20,000 has also been imposed on him. The case is of a village under the Prithviganj police outpost area of Pratapgarh Nagar Kotwali.

According to the report, the woman from the Kandhai area had come to her maternal home with her six-year-old daughter. At 7:30 pm on August 12, the girl was returning from an invitation with her maternal sister. On the way, a young man lured her and took her to the field. Uncle's daughter reached home and told, then the family reached the spot. The family caught the accused in the field with the innocent. The police registered a case against the accused Bhupendra Singh alias Bhonu of Kiraon in Prayagraj Mauaima and sent him to jail. Investigative city kotwal Satyendra Singh filed a chargesheet in the court on September 12.

The accused presented the TC of his school to declare him a minor. However, the TC was found to be fake in the investigation. Additional Sessions Judge Pankaj Kumar Srivastava, special judge of the POCSO Act, convicted the accused on September 21 after a series of hearings. On Thursday, the accused was sentenced to jail for the rest of his natural lifespan. The court ordered to pay the fine amount of Rs 20,000 to the victim.
