NEW DELHI: The BJP claimed on Friday that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee constituted a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) with her own trusted personnel to cover up the investigation into the death of Anish Khan.

The chief minister constituted a special investigation team (SIT) earlier this week to look into the death of Anish Khan, a 28-year-old student leader.

Amit Malviya, the BJP's West Bengal co-incharge, said his parents claimed he was killed by uniformed officers. Malviya says that the Bangerjee government is attempting to cover up the situation rather than giving justice to the family. "According to his parents, Anish Khan, a 28-year-old student who had been demonstrating against the Mamata Banerjee government for 130 days, was killed by uniformed policeman. Instead of bringing justice to the family, Mamata Banerjee forms a Special Investigation Team (SIT) made up of her personnel to cover up the crime "Malviya said.

Anis Khan, a former Aliah University student, was allegedly thrown from the terrace of his home in the dead of night by assailants who came to his home posing as Amta police officers, as testified by his father who was held at a gunpoint when the assailants committed the murder. The father has demanded that the event be investigated by the CBI.
