An online fraudster called Annu Kapoor on Thursday morning and conned him out of Rs. 4.36 lakh by asking for his bank account information. Following an approach to the two banks where the fraudster had transferred the funds and the freezing of both accounts, the Oshiwara police were able to recover Rs 3.08 lakh.

In any case, three months ago, while on tour in Europe, Annu Kapoor was a victim of theft. "This is not the first time that I have been robbed," he declared. During my tour of Europe in June, I was robbed, and I have no hope that the money will ever be returned. Prior to that, an employee stole money from my office and left quickly. So, these are all regrettable occurrences from the past few months.

The actor described a recent online scam: "On Thursday morning, around 11.30 am, a man called on my phone and asked me to update my KYC. He claimed to be a bank employee. He gave me a fake employee number when I asked for his real one. I was in a rush and didn't realize I shouldn't have given him my bank account number or the OTP number I had received. My account was withdrawn for Rs. 4.36 lakh in a matter of minutes. I hurried to the Oshiwara Police Station where they promptly registered my complaint and acted upon it. The money had been fraudulently transferred to two Bihar bank accounts, which were subsequently frozen.

While the police were able to recover Rs. 3.08 lakh, they are still looking for the person who withdrew the remaining money in cash.

According to Kapoor, who is currently filming Dream Girl 2, "I want to tell everyone not to share any personal details — Aadhar, OTP numbers, credit or debit card details, or any important information — over the phone. You might become a victim of hackers and cheaters if you're unadept on the street and uninformed.
