New Delhi: The Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi has received another major setback from the Lieutenant Governor (LG) camp. Jasmine Shah, son of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson and MP Naveen Gupta, has been removed from the DISCOM board on the instructions of LG VK Saxena. Jasmine Shah was nominated on this board by the government. They were trying to benefit Ambani's company while the DISCOM board was on top of them. Due to this, the government revenue has suffered a loss of about 8000 crores.

After the formation of the AAP government in Delhi, the practice of having government-nominated members in the DISCOM board started. While the Finance Secretary, Power Secretary, and MD of Delhi Transco have been representing the government in this board till the government of Sheila Dikshit. Ambani and Tata's DISCOM companies supply electricity to Delhi. Delhi's LG VK Saxena had issued orders to remove Jasmine Shah from the post with immediate effect after the matter of disturbances in the board came to the fore. Along with these, other private people were also asked to be removed from the board. In its order, the LG has said that all those people who have been wrongly nominated by the government should be removed from the board.

According to officials, with the matter of irregularities in the board coming to the fore, the LG has sent the file to the President for further action, canceling the political appointments in the board. The decision of the President is yet to come on this file. The Delhi government is a 49 percent stakeholder in the private DISCOM that supplies electricity in Delhi. On this basis, the Kejriwal government of Delhi had made political appointments to the board.
