Aparna Yadav Appointed as Vice Chairperson of UP Women's Panel by Yogi Adityanath Govt

UTTAR PRADESH: Aparna Yadav, who previously contested the 2017 assembly elections from the Lucknow Cantt seat, has been appointed as the vice chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women's Commission. Despite her efforts in the 2017 election, where she finished second, she faced defeat. In 2022, she joined the ruling party.

The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has recently made new appointments within its state women’s commission. Aparna Yadav, who is the sister-in-law of Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, was chosen for the role of vice chairperson.

The appointment was confirmed in an official notification issued on September 3 by Principal Secretary Leena Johri. Alongside Aparna Yadav, Babita Chauhan was named the chairperson of the UP Rajya Mahila Aayog, with Charu Chaudhary also taking on a vice-chairperson role. These appointments are for a one-year term or until further notice from the state government.

Aparna Yadav, the younger daughter-in-law of the Samajwadi Party founder and former Chief Minister, has previously expressed support for certain initiatives of the ruling government. She also made a significant contribution of Rs 11 lakh to the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Aparna is married to Prateek Yadav, son of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife, Sadhana Gupta.

Upon joining the ruling party in January 2022, Aparna Yadav stated her gratitude and expressed her admiration for the work done by the leadership, emphasizing her belief that the nation always comes first. The ruling party, under Yogi Adityanath's leadership, secured a decisive victory in the 2022 assembly elections, winning 255 out of 403 seats, while the opposition managed to win 111 seats.
