Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the concerns surrounding the development of the Sri Banke Bihari Temple Corridor in Mathura. Speaking during Sri Krishna Janmasthami celebrations, he assured that discussions would be held with all stakeholders to ensure that no one would be displaced by the project.

The proposed corridor, which will span five acres and cost Rs 262 crore, has faced opposition due to fears of displacement similar to those seen in Kashi and Ayodhya. Critics argue that these projects primarily benefit tourists and overlook the needs of local residents.

In response to these concerns, Adityanath outlined plans for a comprehensive rehabilitation program. This initiative comes in the wake of a tragic stampede during last year's Janmasthami that resulted in two fatalities. Currently, access to the temple is limited to narrow lanes, exacerbating safety issues.

The Chief Minister emphasized that both locals and visitors should be prioritized in safety measures. He announced plans to transform the entire municipal area into a 'safe city' by implementing an Integrated Traffic Management System, increasing CCTV surveillance, and enhancing police presence in high-traffic areas.

Adityanath also highlighted the state's commitment to promoting religious tourism, noting the significant increase in visitor numbers to Ayodhya, Mathura-Vrindavan, Kashi, and Prayagraj over the past seven years. This rise in tourism has positively impacted local economies, necessitating high-quality services for tourists.

To improve cleanliness, the Chief Minister proposed the formation of mohalla committees and the deployment of additional cleaning staff in Mathura-Vrindavan. He also called for improvements in garbage management similar to those implemented during the Prayagraj Kumbh, as well as the use of solar panels for street lighting, the establishment of vending zones, piped drinking water systems, and expanded parking facilities.

In a related development, Adityanath inaugurated a ropeway project in Barsana, which will eliminate the need for devotees to climb 251 steps to reach the Ladli Kishori Radha Rani temple on Brahmachal mountain. This Rs 15.89 crore project, set to be developed through a public-private partnership model, aims to enhance accessibility for visitors.
