Finance Minister Arun Jaitley just day after commenting on the opposition parties for criticising the centre's demonetisation drive and also saying about Rahul Gandhi that he is interested only in disrupting parliament through Facebook post, today spoke out in a Press conference.
All those who said that the economy took a big hit after the notes ban, he said that "The collection in central excise duty which related to manufacturing surged over 31 per cent in December 2016 alone, as compared to the December 2015 figures".
The main highlights of his press conference are below...
1. Increase in the indirect tax from month April to December 2016 is 25% high as compare to the 2015.
2. In 2016, from April to December the increase in direct tax is 12.01% and indirect tax is 25% as compared to the 2015.
3. In December 2016, Central Excise increased by 31.6% as compared to 2015 December.
4. The customs in December 2016 compared to last December 2015 declined by 6.3%.
5. VAT collection has increased for most of the states.
